The Malealea Teaching Farm has been welcomed into the global partnership of the Slow Food movement as an official Slow Food Farm.

Slow Food Farms are cultivated according to the principles of agroecology, and the network is set to become the largest global network of farms dedicated to producing good, clean and fair food.

The recognition reflects the regenerative work the farm demonstrates, including:

  • adding biochar and manure to restore depleted soils and improve soil health
  • seedling propagation
  • growing aloe plants for the Eco Cook Bag project
